LunoFOX was built on a simple conviction: African lawyers are among the most capable in the world; and they deserve legal intelligence built on their law, their statutes, and their courts.
The Origin
LunoFOX was founded by Kosi Nzube, a computer scientist based in Nigeria who spent years watching the global wave of legal AI pass the continent by.
Tools like Harvey were reshaping legal practice in the US and UK; giving lawyers instant access to deep, citation-backed research across their legal systems. But for Nigerian practitioners, nothing comparable existed. The closest alternatives were trained on foreign law, returned answers anchored in US or English precedent, and were effectively useless for day-to-day Nigerian legal work.
That gap wasn't a minor inconvenience. It was the difference between a lawyer spending four hours in a law library and one who could surface a Supreme Court precedent in under two minutes. Kosi set out to close it.
"The tools existed. The intelligence existed. What didn't exist was any of it built on African data, African statutes, African courts. That's the only problem LunoFOX was built to solve." — Kosi Nzube, Founder
What We Stand For
Every answer LunoFOX produces is anchored in Nigerian law; the Laws of the Federation, Supreme Court decisions, Court of Appeal judgments, and verified regulatory sources. Not approximations. Not foreign precedent applied by analogy. The real thing.
Legal AI that fabricates case citations or invents statutes is worse than no tool at all. Every output from LunoFOX carries a confidence score and a source reference. If we can't cite it, we don't say it.
LunoFOX is not a general-purpose chatbot with a legal coat of paint. It is designed specifically for how Nigerian lawyers work; the questions they ask, the documents they review, and the professional standards they are held to.
The Problem We're Solving
Legal research in Nigeria has traditionally meant hours in law libraries or manual trawling through law reports. A single research task that LunoFOX handles in under two minutes can consume half a working day.
Existing legal AI platforms are built on US and UK legal corpora. They don't know CAMA. They don't know the Land Use Act. They can't cite NWLR. Nigerian lawyers using them are doing so at their own risk.
Liability exposure buried in commercial agreements is missed in manual reviews; not from incompetence, but from time pressure. Systematic, clause-level AI analysis catches what exhausted eyes miss.
Large firms with deep resources have always had research advantages over smaller practices. LunoFOX levels that field; giving every Nigerian lawyer access to the same depth of legal intelligence, regardless of firm size.
